Absence of disabled parking a concern
I AM concerned about the absence of Disabled and other parking in the Market Place.
For disabled people and many others, it’s difficult and painful to walk all the way from the High Street or South Street Car Park to the Market Place if they have business to attend to there.
Recently, ‘No Parking’ signs have been stuck on the temporary barriers there, which I’ve been told are for safety and to help cafes with their outside seating. I do not think that cars parked parallel with the barriers cause a safety issue, nor do they interfere with the outside seating.
The Market Place was closed last year which was supposed to help with social distancing on the pavements. I should hope that when sanctions on social distancing are removed on July 19 that the Market Place will be fully reopened to the wider community/general public.
