Big walk and cycle ride between Wells and Glastonbury
A BIG walk and cycle ride is being organised for Sunday, April 25, between the Tin Bridge Roundabout in Glastonbury and Tincknell’s Roundabout in Wells.
The event will celebrate walking and cycling, and highlight the lack of a shared path alongside the A39. It will start from both ends at 10am.
Organiser Susannah Clemence said: “It is high time that people in the UK were provided with multi-user paths like the people of Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden are. In those countries it is normal to jump on your bike for work, shopping, picking up the kids from school or for leisure.”
She added: “People who have responded to our enquiries have said that they would happily give up the car to cycle to work from Glastonbury to Wells, but they feel the road is just too dangerous for them to do that.”
