City council gives 400 face masks to local charities

WELLS City Council has given 400 face masks to local charities.

There were 200 for the Elim Connect Centre, which helps the homeless, and 200 for the Wells Storehouse Foodbank.

“It’s great to be given the masks we need when our finances are as tight as they are now,” said the centre’s Jim Wilkinson.

They will be used by the rough sleepers and other homeless people that they support.

Sue Marland from the Foodbank said: “We will put the masks in the food parcels we give to families and individuals who are struggling financially.”

They are feeding 50 people a week.

Kevin Westwood, Wells Town Hall manager, took the photo of the presentation at the Connect Centre and told the charities: “If we can provide further help do give us a shout.”
