Concert by Gesualdo Six in aid of Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust

THE Gesualdo Six, directed by former Wells Organ Scholar, Owain Park, are returning to Wells to perform a concert in aid of Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust.

They will present an exhibition of some of the finest vocal consort works from renaissance and modern-day composers in the Cathedral on Saturday, May 14, at 7pm.

Works from the Golden Age of polyphony by Tallis, Byrd and Gombert will be juxtaposed with contemporary music by Donna McKevitt, Eleanor Daley and Richard Barnard.

The concert will feature a collaboration with the Choristers of Wells Cathedral Choir, and works for voices and trumpet with former chorister, Erin Davies.

The Gesualdo Six is an award-winning British vocal ensemble comprising some of the UK’s finest consort singers.

Owain Park, born in Bristol in 1993, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO), and was awarded the Dixon Prize for improvisation, having been Senior Organ Scholar at Wells Cathedral and Trinity College Cambridge.

This concert is a fundraising event for Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust, which helps young singers from all backgrounds to train in a world-class musical environment.

Tickets, priced £20-£35, are available from or from Eventbrite (search ‘Gesualdo Six’).
