A JAMES Bond-themed charity fundraiser was so-oh-oh successful that it raised £1,400 for the Mayor of Wells’ two charities, Heads Up and Wells Air Cadets.

Mayor Councillor John North opened the Casino Royale event in Wells Town Hall with a Vespa Martini in hand.

Nearly 100 party-goers then sipped prosecco and cocktails while playing on the gaming tables and enjoying entertainment from Dee Dee Wilde and her glamorous dancing girls, and singer Dan Lealman.

The North Star, the special cocktail invented for the evening for the mayor, proved very popular. Served in gold goblets, it gave an air of decadence in true James Bond style.

"Everybody had a fabulous evening," said Councillor North.

"I'd like to thanke veryone involved in the night: Gail, the Mayoress, all the people from Heads Up and the Air Cadets, Sean and Sarah Sloan, Funtasia who provided the gaming tables, Dan Lealman, our special guest Dee Dee Wilde who brought the house down and everybody for their generous donations on the night."

The mayor’s next fundraising event will be an evening with The Blues Brothers at The Swan Hotel on Saturday, April 21. Tickets are available from The Swan.
