Palace the place for summer fun
The Bishop's Palace
July 2 sees the last of three productions of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by the recently formed Wells Theatre Company take place in the Palace grounds.
Later in the month there will be a return visit for firm favourites The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, whose production of Much Ado About Nothing was a sell out last year. On Sunday, July 30, they will be bringing Shakespeare’s most hilarious farce A Comedy of Errors to the South Lawn. The company perform in traditional Shakespearian style, with an all-male cast.

Entertainment of a different kind comes with a weekend of historical re-enactment from The Taunton Garrison on July 22 and 23, when visitors will be treated to fully costumed troops parading their muskets around the South Lawn. This year, visitors will experience a taste of the Monmouth rebellion.
The first of what will be weekly Family Fun Fridays during the summer holidays begins on Friday, July 28, with a theme of ‘Glorious Gardens’ when families will be invited to join in the fun crafting activities in the Stable Yard Room.
Each Fun Friday runs from 10.30am-3.30pm and is included in standard admission. As these sessions are very popular, visitors will need to collect a time-slot from the shop upon arrival.
