Pilton artist is People's Choice at Wells event for second year in a row
LOCAL artist Dante Turner, originally from Peru and now living in Pilton, has been awarded the Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) People’s Choice prize for the second year in a row.
His three works, The Tree of Life, Los Borrachos and Mr Shoemark, Mr Biggs and Mr Lock, were much admired at the 2017 WAC Rewind exhibition held at The Bishop's Palace from October 8-21.
WAC Rewind invited the winners of the last five years of WAC competitions to exhibit three of their current works of contemporary art. The People’s Choice competition was sponsored by Harris and Harris solicitors and the prize was £500. Dante, aged 25, received 132 votes from a total of 447 votes received.
The WAC competitions have helped to launch several emerging artists over the past five years.
