Supergroup tribute band back by popular demand
SUPERGROUP The Traveling Wilburys will be remembered at a charity concert being staged in Wells on Friday, November 30.
Acclaimed tribute band The Unravelling Wilburys is back by popular demand at St Thomas’ Church, where their concert last year was a sell-out.
The band will be recreating the sounds and songs of the late 1980s supergroup which brought together five of the greatest names in rock music history: George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. Critics have said the band captures the style and sounds perfectly and, with their own added humour, gives audiences an evening to remember.
The concert will be held at St Thomas' Church in St Thomas Street, Wells, at 8pm, with doors opening at 7pm. It is being organised by Wells Lions Club with all profits going to the Wells branch of the Royal British Legion. Tickets cost £12 and are available from St Thomas’ Church, Wells Golf Club and Just Ales in Market Street. They can also be bought online where a booking fee will apply. A licensed bar will be available before and during the concert.
The set list of Wilburys songs will include End Of The Line, Handle With Care, She’s My Baby and Heading For The Light. There will also be a number of hits from the individuals in the Wilburys line-up: Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman and You’ve Got It, Jeff Lynne’s Mr Blue Sky and Evil Woman, Bob Dylan’s Mr Tambourine Man and Make You Feel My Love, Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down and Running Down A Dream, and George Harrison’s Here Come’s The Sun and What Is Life.

Wells Lions President Paul Clegg said: “This will be a great concert for Wells and we’re delighted to be staging it again. Last year’s concert sold out completely, and we’re expecting it to be a sell-out again, which will raise good money for the Royal British Legion in Wells, in this Centenary Armistice year.”
