What future role will councils play?
WITH reference to the piece on page 14 (Wells Voice March edition) concerning changes to local government.
Since there seems to be a devolving process of services to the city council, such as public toilets, bus station, Speed Indicator Devices and relief road verge cutting, what role will councils such as Wells City Council have within the unitary authority proposal?
These councils have in the region of 18 members, so for the benefit of democracy there will be no need for area boards, as part of the unitary authority.
