A PRE-RELEASE screening of computer-animated rom-com Sherlock Gnomes is one of the highlights of this year’s Wells Festival of Film.

Featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp, and with original music by Elton John, the film sees Gnomeo and Juliet recruit Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a number of garden gnomes.

The film will be on general release at Wells Film Centre on May 11 but before that there will be a special screening on April 28 during the film festival.

And one lucky competition winner and a guest can watch it for free – as well as five other films at this year’s film festival.

Wells Voice is teaming up with the film centre to offer the chance to win a ticket to all of the films being shown, apart from the sold out open-air screening of The Greatest Showman Sing-along.

This year’s Wells Festival of Film takes place from April 27-29 and has musicals as its theme.

“We are very excited about this year’s festival,” said Wells Film Centre proprietor Sally Cooper.

“Musicals has always been a favourite genre of mine, and we have put together a great line-up.”

From Messiah and There’s No Business Like Show Business to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mary Poppins and West Side Story, as well as Sherlock Gnomes, there really is something for everyone.

Tickets for The Greatest Showman Sing-along sold out within days of going on sale, but to be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to the other six films, just answer this simple question:

What is the theme of this year’s Wells Festival of Film?

Write your answer, with your name, address and telephone number, on an envelope or postcard and leave it at the counter at Wells Film Centre, Princes Road, Wells, BA5 1TD, or post your answer to the film centre. Please mark entries ‘Film festival competition’. Only one entry per person.

Entries must be received by noon on Thursday, April 19, 2018. The winner will be notified by Monday, April 23, 2018, and will be announced in a future edition of Wells Voice.
Normal Wells Film Centre terms and conditions apply.

Film festival partners are The Bishop’s Palace, Wookey Hole Caves and Wookey Hole Circus Shows, The Swan Hotel, Cedars Hall, and Wells Voice.
